DEFLECTION

Two
10 foot lengths of randomly selected hubless cast iron soil
pipe were joined with an MG COUPLING, torqued to 175 inch-pounds,
and the ends of the assembly were sealed with test plugs.
One length of pipe was rigidly supported while the other end
was unrestrained. The assembly was filled with water and the
hydrostatic pressure maintained at 10 psi for the duration
of the test. The end of the unrestrained 10 foot length was
raised 1 inch per lineal foot of pipe length.
