DEFLECTION (ASTM A-1056)

| Two lengths of
randomly selected hubless cast iron soil pipe were joined
with an MG COUPLING, torqued to 175 inch-pounds, and the ends
of the assembly were sealed with test plugs. One pipe was
rigidly supported while the other was unrestrained. The assemble
was filled with water and the hydrostatic pressure was held
at 4.3 psi for the duration of the test. The end of the unrestrained
pipe was raised ½" per lineal foot of pipe length and
maintained for 5 minutes at 4.3 psi. |
