| Two 5 foot lengths
of randomly selected hubless cast iron soil pipe were joined
with an MG COUPLING, torqued to 175 inch-pounds, and the ends
of the assembly were sealed with test plugs. One pipe was
rigidly supported while the other was supported by a single
block near the end of the pipe. The assemble was filled with
water and the hydrostatic pressure held at 10 psi for the
duration of the test. A load of 50 pounds per inch of nominal
diameter of the pipe was uniformly applied over a arc of 120
degrees and along a longitudinal distance of 12 inches at
the unsupported end of the pipe immediately adjacent to the
coupling and held for 1 hour. Test required no leakage. |
