HYDROSTATIC (RESTRAINED) (ASTM A-1056)

| Two lengths of
randomly selected hubless cast iron soil pipe were joined
with an MG COUPLING, torqued to 175 inch-pounds, and the ends
of the assembly were sealed with test plugs. The assembly
was supported to restrain joint movement. The assemble was
filled with water and the hydrostatic pressure increased in
increments of 1 psi at approximately 30 second intervals until
a pressure of 13 psi was reached and maintained for 30 minutes.
The hydrostatic pressure was then increased to 50 psi and
held for 5 minutes. |
