The
MG Coupling is a high strength, corrosion resistant, cast iron
coupling used to join hubless cast iron soil pipe and fittings.
It consists of two cast iron clamps, a neoprene gasket, and stainless
steel bolts and nuts.
The high strength of the MG Coupling
is derived from tightening the nuts and bolts to 175 inch-pounds
of torque. Since its first use in 1968, the MG Coupling has consistently
had the reputation of providing a joint of the highest strength
available. Many code jurisdictions have recognized the high strength
capabilities of the MG Coupling by allowing hubless pipe and fittings
joined with MG CouplingS to be supported with hangers similar
to lead and oakum hub and spigot installations. Actual installations
and laboratory tests have verified the high strength capabilities
of the MG Coupling.
